After catching up on some admin in the morning, Pete keeping the house build budget and Molly keeping the WIFIE website up-to-date, we looked for and found a short hill walk nearby on Walk Highlands.
The walk to the hill fort and back is not far at 3.75 miles but the wind was strong and so was the rain so for us it was quite strenuous but definately worth it.
After spending some time enjoying the vantage point we made our way downhill to pick up the track and continue the walk. It was such a pleasure to be in among the trees and out of the wind. The air is so fresh here and with all the rain you get a sense of the temperate rainforest that exists here.
After walking among the trees for a while we picked up a path along the shore just as the Islay ferry was passing.
We headed back to the track past an old shed that just had to be photographed then things got a bit muddy!
We might have got buffeted by the wind, soaked by the rain and a bit muddy but we still enjoyed our afternoon walk.
Best wishes
I am reading and filing the rain forest, the humidity, thanks for share❤️
Walk Highlands is such a great website for finding nearby walks. Look forward to seeing that view on a more pleasant day.
Think your flower is a common spotted orchid. Walk looks lovely.
Thanks Jane, now I know. it might be common but very nice nonetheless.
