Caravan Life

Having sold our flat we have moved into our temporary new home, a caravan! This is quite a change for us as our flat was 126 square metres and our wee caravan is only about 30!!!

Our caravan on Tarbert Holiday Park near West Loch Tarbert.

On the day we left Portobello we moved into our caravan on our plot. The following day Molly’s brother, Gordon, came and towed our caravan to Tarbert so that we could be close to the workshop where we are building the timber frame. Our wee car isn’t strong enough to tow a caravan so until we get something more powerful we rely on our family and friends to help us out. Thanks Gordon!

We have had to learn to be very, very organised and things have to be put away as soon as we have used them. We only have what we regularly need and very little that is for occasional use. We have limited ourselves to a lot less clothes and shoes than we would normally have.

To make sure we are properly comfortable sleeping in our caravan we have invested in a custom made futon mattress.

After years of living in a beautiful Victorian flat in Edinburgh, Molly and I have decided to sell up and build our new house ourselves in Argyll, Scotland. We have called it Gar Bothan which is Gaelic for warm bothy or cottage or hovel!!!!
